Who Stole The Soul
A brief discussion about how certain factors allowed music to be hollow and souled out. From bands to digital. A long walk down a short pier

This image might seem extreme but it is a true illustration of a decades long eradication of the musician. Live instrumentation and true respect for it has decreased year after year, decade after decade. I speak from the vantage point of being a baby boomer circa 1965. I remember growing up listening to all kinds of different BANDS with their own style and flair. Spent years living down the block form Brass Construction as they practiced in the basement. There are so many that I choose not to mention a few because i can't mention them all. If you're of the young crowd all you have to do is ask your favoite LLM about music from he 60's 70's and 80's. The 90's were different all together where the golden age of hip hop resides.
Can't really pin point an exact date of this theft but i can tell you it was slightly gradual and deadly. It hit all genres but affected the Soul/R&B/Hip Hop scene the hardest because they hit them first. Not a coincidence to notice that's where the SOUL originates out of. All of a sudden I'd say about the end of the 90's you noticed bands started getting less and less visible. You had Tony Toni Tone and Mint Condition here in the states on the R&B side. The Brand New Heavies and Incognito from across the pond. On the rock side you had Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers just to name a couple. These bands still perform when they want but the demand is not like it use to be. That's the point.
The demand was stolen due to updated technology( streming services) that tends to cheapen the fabric of music when it's ready available for $10 a month. Don't get it twisted, not being hypocritical here. I have an apple subscription myself. Another facet involved is the lowering of the frequency in the sound vibration(perfect example is trap/drill music). Most people don't realize that higher frequencies in sound create more positive actions with human beings. Studies have proven this, look it up dont have time to show you studies here.. When they got rid of the bands they got rid of the horns. Notice you don't even hear horns anymore with music nowadays. Why you might ask? HIGH FREQUENCY
Most of the music out today doesn't even attempt to make it sound like real instruments are being played. For me it's a sad state of affairs to see the the soul stripped from music. I was one of those kids that grew up beating on pots and pans and hearing some of the greatest music ever made. I'm not against digital music. My set up is founded with Native Instruments, for me a God send. It fuels my creative scope. I just tend to make the music sound as real as possible. I'm a drummer so I tend to like live drums. Can you name me a BAND thtat's really doing it nowadays in any genre. If you can they are few and far between.
Once again I have to ask, WHO STOLE THE SOUL?
